Andreas Charalambous born in Nicosia in 1947. He studied Fine Arts in Moscow at the Sourikov State Institute of Fine Arts where he worked as an assistant professor between 1978 and 1980. He taught painting and design in America and Sweden and returned to Cyprus in 1980 where he began his own School of Fine Arts in Nicosia. His work has been displayed in one man exhibitions and group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad including Sweden, Germany, Ireland and Russia. He also created the sets and costumes for many plays for the Cyprus Theatre Organization known as TH.O.K., the Free Theatre and television. In 1993 he was elected Secretary General of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts. Strengths lie in painting and design on a two dimensional platform. Charalambous is known for his ability to evoke depth and dreamlike qualities within his paintings. He often uses colour and the realistic renditions of objects forms and landscapes in painting to give them spiritual dimension.
