The First Generation of Cypriot Artists from the Surikov Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow consists of Andreas Charalambous, Christos Foukaras, Mariam Suhanova - Foukara, Hambis Tsangaris, Andreas Makariou, Kyriakos Tamanas and George Gavriel. Exhibiting their new body of work along with works from their studies (1969-1987), the artists demonstrate their virtuosity which can be traced from their early artistic practice. Based on inspirations common in nature and their devotion to painting, printmaking for Hambis in particular, they established their own features which enhanced the formation of Cypriot art.
