On the occasion of the 50 years anniversary of the Zampelas family collection, the current exhibition on motherhood is dedicated to Loukia Zampelas, the co-founder of the museum. A series of works by Cypriot artists from the collection, with the exception of the Greek painter George Gounaropoulos, depict the maternal figure at different periods through paintings and sculptures, such as for instance the initial experience of pregnancy and breastfeeding. The relationship between mother and daughter and the physiognomy of the Cypriot mother are also two representative elements of the exhibition. The featuring Cypriot artists represent both pioneers of Cypriot art and practicing contemporary artists alike.
