Origami is fun, creative and amazing! Discover the joy of folding paper with origami artist, Mr. Dimmis Petrides as he teaches you how simple squares of colored paper will magically transform into almost anything!
Adult Workshop Breakdown:
During the three two-hour lessons, the participants will learn about the history of paper and the art of origami.
Day 1: Participants will learn about the history of paper and the art of origami and will then proceed to make the first part of the composition which will introduce the participants to basic paper folds.
Day 2: During the first hour of the second lesson, participants will learn a more complex model which will be used in the final composition. A leaf. During the second hour, participants will create the base for a butterfly model. From then on, they will proceed to make their own unique butterfly.
Day 3: The final lesson will focus on the making of a rose. This will take up some time but in the end the participants will have all the pieces necessary to make an origami flower from scratch.
Adults (17 years+):
Dates: Thursdays 16/5, 23/5 & 30/5
Cost: €20 per class or €50 for the whole workshop.
Children's Workshop Breakdown:
During the two lessons children will learn about the history of paper and the art of origami.
Day 1: Children will learn about the history of paper and will then proceed to make their first model which will be made with creased paper, a mushroom. This way children can work with paper in a playful manner. Continuing, children will learn about the importance of accuracy when folding a piece of paper which will give eventually a flawless shape to our model. This will also be demonstrated when children will learn to fold an origami crane.
Day 2: Children will deepen their knowledge and realise that they can create an origami model on their own with simple steps. So by the end of this lesson the children will create an origami frog.
Children (8 years+):
Dates: Saturday 18/5 & Saturday 25/5
Cost: €12 per class or €20 for the whole workshop.
