Magical Crystal Eggs

An entertaining experimental workshop for children aged 5-12 years old tailored for Easter, where we will make decorative crystal eggs. The visual artist Katerina Neophytidou will introduce us to the magical features of the crystals as we experiment and make our own crystallized Easter eggs.




Sculpture for Children

Using the permanent collection of the museum as inspiration, children will have the opportunity to explore two and three-dimensional form by making wire constructions representing a work of art of their choosing from the collection on display. The aim of the workshop is to exercise our thinking with regards to the shape and structure of a sculpture.

Τhe Kites of Stelios Votsis

An introduction to the world and artistic practice of the Cypriot artist through his paintings in the Museum's collection, as well as outside sources of visual reference.
Themed drawing activity 'The View from your Window' using black ink, colour and rulers, the materials used by Stelios Votsis.
Construction of a kite in the spirit of the artist and decoration with his signature motifs.

Ceramic Art Workshop facilitated by the sculptor Varvara Georgiou

A creative writing and illustration workshop for 8-12 year olds with painter and children's book writer Dora Oronti.

A short educational walk in the Museum will give children the perfect atmosphere to inspire and to get to know the world of Art through the works of Cypriot artists. Then they will discover the magical world of books with Dora Oronti, who will read to her children some of her fairy tales. Under her guidance, children will learn to write and illustrate their own stories through a journey of inspiration and creativity.

The purpose of the workshop is to acquaint children with the Museum and Art, develop critical thinking and cultivate creative expression.


Play with Clay with Varvara Georgiou

The artist Varvara Georgiou returns to our Museum to guide the first Artist Led Family Workshop to take place at the Museum. These workshops aim to offer the opportunity and the space for families to explore art techniques through a hands-on experience under the guidance of an artist.


Origami Classes

Origami is fun, creative and amazing! Discover the joy of folding paper with origami artist, Mr. Dimmis Petrides as he teaches you how simple squares of colored paper will magically transform into almost anything!

Adult Workshop Breakdown:

During the three two-hour lessons, the participants will learn about the history of paper and the art of origami.

Day 1: Participants will learn about the history of paper and the art of origami and will then proceed to make the first part of the composition which will introduce the participants to basic paper folds. 


"Professions in Art"

During the Carnival period, the Loukia and Michael Zampelas Art Museum is organizing an educational program titled "Professions in Art" giving the opportunity to children and adults to explore the world through the lens of art and the costume of the profession they want to wear! At the end of the educational program, an art workshop will follow where children will make their own carnival mask inspired from the educational program that preceded.

For three consecutive Saturdays on 2/3/13, 9/3/13 & 16/3/13.
